The Flow Method

How Hermit’s Flow Method Works

The Flow Method is Hermit’s approach to practising English communication. You work on expressing a thought, noticing what interrupts it, and trying a useful response in another conversation.

Understand the moment

Start with a situation you recognise. Perhaps you restart after a grammar mistake, wait too long to join a discussion, or lose your answer while checking how it sounds. Your coach helps you describe the pattern without treating it as a fixed part of who you are.

Practise a response you can use

Choose one action to try. You might simplify an answer, ask a follow-up question, or use a phrase that gives you time to continue. Practise it in conversation, where the next question is not completely predictable.

Language study supports this work. If a repeated grammar pattern or unfamiliar word is getting in the way, use a focused exercise and bring it back into a spoken answer.

Take more responsibility for the conversation

As practice develops, work on guiding the exchange: introduce an idea, invite the other person in, and explain what you mean when there is a misunderstanding. Taking part includes listening and making room for someone else.

Use the report to choose your next practice

A Personal Session Report helps you revisit examples from the session. In teacher-led work, your teacher reviews AI-assisted feedback before sharing it. Together, you can choose which observation deserves attention and which does not fit the situation.

The method is a coaching framework, not a clinical treatment or a promise of a particular result. Progress needs to be considered across practice and the real situations you care about.
